Jack Everiss - 07527 006036

I’ve been working within the arboriculture industry for the past nine years and during that time I’ve gained experience across a wide range of areas within the sector. I originally started out working for a local tree surgery company where the work was very varied. We carried out everything from tree felling, reductions and dismantles, to hedge cutting, grass cutting and fencing work. It was a really good grounding in the practical side of the industry and gave me hands-on experience with different types of equipment, tree species and working environments.

While I was working there I attended Pershore College where I studied Arboriculture. During that time I gained my relevant qualifications and tickets which allowed me to develop both my practical skills and my understanding of tree biology, health and safety, and best practices within the industry.

After working with the company for around six years I moved into a utility arboriculture role as a tree surveyor working around powerlines. In that position my responsibilities involved surveying trees in proximity to powerlines, assessing their health and condition, and determining what work would be required to ensure they remained clear of the network for the required clearance periods. The role also involved planning work programmes and coordinating with operational teams to ensure that all work was carried out safely and in line with industry legislation and utility standards when working near live infrastructure.

More recently I’ve taken on more responsibility within my family’s business. This has involved helping to run and develop our grass cutting work as well as taking a bigger role in the family firewood business. Through this I’ve been involved not only in the practical side of the work, such as processing and preparing firewood, but also in managing workloads, organising jobs, dealing with customers and helping the business run efficiently day to day.

Being involved in the family business has given me a broader understanding of the industry from a business perspective as well as the operational side. It’s helped me develop skills in organisation, customer service and time management, alongside the technical arboriculture knowledge I’ve built over the past nine years.
